Requisition 31197: Charlotte Electrician

Electrician:

Electrician duties include wiring electrical power and control systems, laying-out, assembling, wiring, and installing electrical boxes and panels on railroad maintenance machinery. The ideal candidate would be able to do the following:

  • Reading and interpreting electrical prints, testing circuits, and connections, using multimeters, amp clamps, etc.
  • Be proficient in troubleshooting PLC's and 24 VDC control systems.
  • Be able to diagnose, replace and make repairs on equipment and components were needed.
  • Be familiar with repair shop equipment and tools.
  • Have a knowledge of industrial wiring both single and three phase.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Be able to work with other craft employees to complete work safely and efficiently.
  • Have at least 3 years of applicable electrical experience in industrial machinery, buildings, or heavy equipment.

An associate degree in electrical, computer systems engineering, or a similar degree is preferred but not required. Journeyman status is preferred but will consider those with less experience to fill student Electrician positions. Students will go through a two-year step rate progression and have the option once confidant and proficient to test and gain Journeyman status.
