Position Summary:

The Ice Arena Operations Coordinator is responsible in the assisting of day-to-day operations of the Ice Arena. Included are guest relations, personal management, and oversight of the assets within the Ice Arena.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Ice Arena.
  • Assist in maintaining and operating ice arena equipment, refrigeration plant, and ice resurfacer/edger.
  • Assist in point-of-sale operations, cash handling, and CCMS/Frontline database management.
  • Resurface ice, perform ice maintenance, complete facility repairs and general maintenance.
  • Assist in enrolling customers in learn to skate, learn to play, youth hockey, adult hockey, birthday parties, and other Ice Arena programs.
  • Oversee daily programs and rentals to ensure they run smooth and on-time.
  • Perform other assignment & duties as directed.
  • Oversee and assist in programs that produce a quality sheet of ice and playing surface via edging, dry cuts, floods, cross cuts, etc.
  • Monitor and report of refrigeration plant, HVAC, and environmental systems.
  • Assist in upkeep and operation of dasherboard system, hockey goals, puck control netting, and scoreboards.
  • Assist in ensuring clean facilities for customer use (bathrooms, locker rooms, party rooms, common areas).
  • Ensure a positive atmosphere for all customers.
  • Assist in ensuring all rules are followed and session are monitored properly.
  • Promote and book parties and groups, and ensure staff and facility are prepared to accommodate.
  • Participate in Ice Arena management meetings.
  • Assist in fitting/sizing youth hockey equipment and uniforms for each player.
  • Assist with league payments and enrollments, new player placement, and team roster management.
  • Able to properly sharpen both hockey and figure skates, and maintain sharpening equipment.
  • Assist in managing the Ice Arenas skate sharpening program for both rental and customer skates.

Working Conditions:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 10lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must have 2 or more years' experience in ice resurfacer operation and knowledge of ice maintenance.
  • Previous cashier and point of sale experience helpful.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service and customer relations.
  • Must have strong supervision skills. Able to work well and relate with co-workers.
  • Knowledge of CCMS, Frontline, and point-of-sale system helpful.
  • Knowledge of integrated database application and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
