The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu/) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college-prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of underserved scholars for college admission.
Under direction of the Principal, in the absence of the classroom teacher, provide instruction, encourage student progress, and manage the learning environment. Demonstrate professional practices in teaching, using course of study provided by the regular classroom teacher. Adapt subject material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. Encourage students to think independently and express original ideas.
