Primary Responsibilities

In the role of GIS Deputy Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out), while under supervision of a Project Manager
  • Responsible for many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project
  • Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule
  • Work with the Project Manager, Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Ensure that GIS technology is being used properly and efficiently
  • Understand current GIS demands and determine how best to meet them
  • Manage and oversee technical projects, determine goals and objectives, and ensure project milestones are met
  • Coordinate different GIS activities among various groups, agencies, departments, or individuals
  • Administer GIS resources within the office, including hardware, software licensing and staffing
  • Participate in business development -- developing proposals, presentations and budgeting
  • Mentor GIS users and GIS professionals
  • Conduct GIS training
  • Review project quality assurance plans as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geography, Planning, Engineering or Natural Sciences
  • A minimum of 10 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field may offset 5 years of experience
  • Proficient in use of ArcGIS, ArcGIS extensions and Microsoft Office
  • Expertise in data analysis, including statistics or geostatistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write reports that summarize spatial analyses and communicate findings with charts, tables and narrative
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a GIS project leader including development of technical approach, budget, scheduling, and quality assurance
  • Ability to identify industry trends and determine where company capabilities can be marketed to existing and potential clients
  • GISP, AICP, PE or other professional certification a plus
  • Esri Certification
  • Prior experience in personnel supervision

The expected compensation range for this position is $91,000-$129,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.
