About The Job
We are currently seeking a full-time, experienced and highly qualified environmental compliance specialist (3+ years' experience) to join our Texas-based team. This position will include fieldwork throughout the state and desktop work from a home office. Fieldwork will include conducting environmental assessments including those for sensitive habitat, hazardous materials, and environmental inspections at construction sites. Desktop work will include preparing and reviewing environmental documentation that will be used for both permitting and ensuring compliance with permit conditions during construction and operations. This position will work closely with project managers, clients, and environmental resource specialists to determine permitting constraints for early-stage project development efforts. This position has the opportunity to help grow the Dudek practice throughout Texas and work on an extensive portfolio of projects throughout the U.S.
This position includes regular communication with internal peers, clients and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate will have experience with reporting on natural resources in Texas and possess professional skills associated with compiling and submitting environmental documentation to resource agencies. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills are essential. This position will be a remote work position from a home office within the state of Texas.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):
May be involved with all or a selection of the following, individually or as part of a team:
  • Preparation and review of documents requiring regulatory agency submittal including but not limited to critical issues analysis, permitting framework plans, pre-construction surveys, species and resource specific protection or avoidance plans, monthly reports, and regulatory entitlement packages.
  • Engagement and coordination with multiple stakeholders including permittees, technical specialists, and construction management personnel.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and scopes of work.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, botany, ecology, environmental planning, or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience with environmental consulting, natural resource planning and conservation or related field.
  • Familiarity and survey experience with Texas wildlife.
  • Ability to travel and conduct field work throughout the state of Texas.
  • Reliable vehicle is required to travel to project sites (4WD not necessary).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting habitat assessments and wildlife surveys and completing the associated technical reports.
  • Experience with implementation of Texas regulations related to the management of resources during design-build construction.
  • Experience with Texas regulations related to entitlement for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.

Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:
  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

  • This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
