About the Opportunity

Sets up and operates machine tools to fabricate precision metal parts. Produces one-off, small batches, or large quantities of metal parts and ensures products meet precise specifications. Maintains and repairs machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

    • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner, following all SOP's and safety requirements.
    • Operates machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders and other machines as required.
    • Operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.
    • Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
    • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
    • Sets up, adjusts, or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
    • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
    • Visualizes objects in three dimensions from drawings.
    • Machines parts to specifications using lathes and mills and other machinery.
    • Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
    • Measures, examines, and tests completed units to check for defects and ensures conformance to specifications using precision instruments.
    • Inspects machine and products to ensure proper lubrication and temperature controls.
    • Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
    • Ensures machines are calibrated and cleaned.
    • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
    • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and work instructions.
    • Performs all jobs in a safe and responsible manner, following all SOP's and safety requirements.
    • Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to be successful?

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience required.
    • Ability to operate conventional machinery required.
    • CNC experience is a plus.
    • Basic communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Computer literate.
    • Experience working in a job shop environment.
    • Owns tools to perform essential functions of machinist tasks.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Strong math skills to include decimals (to one thousandth) and fractions.
    • Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints.
    • Ability to measure and work with tight tolerance.
    • Ability to determine timing and type of maintenance needed and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
    • Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
    • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
