SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating the repairs of newly delivered military and commercial ships. Essential functions:

  • Receiving, evaluating and tracking assigned deficiency reports
  • The coordination of corrective action resolutions and the closure of assigned deficiency reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Ensure each guaranty deficiency report is properly and completely prepared, handled and closed.
  • Determine the disposition of each guaranty deficiency report.
  • Maintain database with comments pertaining to each guaranty deficiency report.
  • Establish and maintain database/files for guaranty work assigned to subcontractors repair facility.
  • Write and issue work request for subcontractors/repair facility.
  • Manage and progress work being accomplished by subcontractors/repair facility.
  • Travel to various shipyards, ports and military bases. Ability to travel internationally
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree or work experience in New Construction and ship repair processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of marine system operations of machinery and deck equipment.
  • Project management experience of one year or more.
  • Possess the ability to work independent from NASSCO off-site to manage and coordinate the timely correction of NASSCO responsible guaranty items.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of computers, computer software and related equipment required to document, track and report status of guaranty items.
  • Possess a working knowledge of contract terms and conditions relating to ship guaranty period.
  • must currently hold or have the ability to obtain credentials to access military facilities


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports directly to the GuaranteeManager.
  • Establish communications with the ship owners' representatives (operators' representatives if other than the owners') and with the ships' crew immediately upon being assigned to the vessel.
  • Liaison with internal NASSCO points of contact for all communication related to work reformed during the guaranty period. Contacts include Project Engineer, New Construction Purchasing Department, ILS, Program Manager and Contract Administrator.
  • Coordinate with the Ship Manager to prioritize and schedule all guaranty work to be performed during availability at NASSCO's facility.
  • Coordinate with ships' owners or owners' representatives to prioritize and schedule all guaranty work to be performed after the ship has left NASSCO's facility and for the duration of the guaranty period.
  • Coordinate any vendor, supplier or subcontractor work during guaranty period. Supervise shipyard personnel to perform the repairs and or modifications for any hull, machinery and electrical systems or components


ACCOUNTABILITY

Review and approve invoices submitted by subcontractors/repair facilities for completeness and accuracy for man-hours and materials used.

PAYSCALE: $86,200 - $111,500

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
