As an ENGINEERING DESIGNER/CAD, supporting the ENGINEERING SERVICES TEAM, you will be trusted with the designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling within the ASPEX MANUFACTURING FACILITY at FORT WORTH, TEXAS, (US).

In this role, a typical day will include:
  • 70% of day-to-day activities are AutoCAD/drafting support.

  • Responsible for generating, organizing, maintaining and field verification of all as-built drawings of production equipment, piping, HVAC, and equipment electrical schematics for GMP compliance.

  • Field verification will require physical activity such as: climbing on ladders, walking on catwalks, crawling into tight spaces, hot spaces and cold spaces, etc. (not all-inclusive)

  • Perform construction inspection of process-related systems and work.

  • Oversee engineering department's CAD database.

  • Use 3D modeling and 3D printing to support maintenance and engineering.

  • Performs annual audits of all piping systems and installs device tagging and pipe labeling.

  • Subject Matter Expert on SOP's relating to drawing management, as well as ECO reviews for drawing impacts.

  • Develop cost estimates and justification for capital appropriations.

  • Perform engineering evaluations using technical and economic factors and make purchasing recommendations for major systems/equipment.

  • Act as engineering and technical lead for projects.

  • Plan and execute engineering project work with minimal supervision.

  • Manage a large capital project or multiple small capital projects concurrently. The required investment for the capital projects could be up to $2M. Manage the budget for a large capital project or multiple small capital projects and proactively identify opportunities to reduce the overall project cost.

  • Design and implement modifications to the existing manufacturing equipment/tooling that will improve the operational efficiencies.

  • Compose user and functional requirement specifications for new or upgraded systems.

  • Generate and execute Installation and Operational Qualifications, IOQs, and Performance Qualifications, PQs.

  • Create and revise standard operating procedures.

  • Lead Manufacturing Non-Conformance investigations and apply good engineering practices to reduce the risk of repeat Non-Conformances.

  • Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve manufacturing's operational efficiencies. Perform risk assessment and risk mitigation activities.

  • Collaborate with production and other functional areas to identify windows for corrective/preventive action implementation and project work.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: 1st Shift - Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Computer Aided Drafting knowledge and ability - 3D, and Solidworks
