DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a supervising neurophysiologist and lab manager, the Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Senior Technologist works under the direction of the physician neurophysiologist and other physicians in the hospital during complex and specialized surgical procedures, monitoring the nervous system to reduce or avoid complications.

Responsibilities include performing recording and monitoring in a variety of cases including brain and brainstem procedures (i.e. for tumors (including language and motor brain mapping), orthopedic spine procedures (i.e. for scoliosis), and vascular surgery (i.e. for aneurysms); aiding in patient preparation, conducting IONM (protecting the nervous system) and following up to ensure quality of care. Additionally, the Senior IONM Technologist may provide support toinpatient EEG service for EEG and other evoked potentials, may train entry level technologists, serves as lead, assists in program operations and scheduling; perform other duties as assigned. All performance expectations associated with this position are to be performed at an expert level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • ABRET CNIM required.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Four to six (4 - 6) years at CNIM level in a tertiary hospital care setting.

  • Demonstrate competency in EEG, live EMG, triggered EMG for neural element stimulation, SSEP, tcMEP, T04, and AEP for all patients.

  • Competence in programming the necessary related equipment (Cadwell).

  • Familiar with a variety of neurological measurement techniques before, during, and after surgery to monitor a patient's condition.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS; MS, PhD level education and/or other allied health degree or certification.
  • DABNM, REEG, REPT.
  • Advanced capabilities including Electrocorticography (ECoG) with strips/grids, central sulcus localization, stimulation protocols for brain mapping (awake language and awake/asleep motor including continuous intracranial MEPs), DBS neurophysiology, peripheral nerve evaluations including the ephaptic response, and brainstem/spinal cord stimulation/mapping.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, locations and on-call evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $129,185 - $160,567 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $61.87 - $76.90

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
