Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to be the single point of contact for designing, developing, and evaluating technical training courses, instructional materials, and measurement devices through the analysis of educational or instructional problems or questions.Role and Responsibilities
  • Serves as Training Development Evaluator (TDE), developing strategic plans for the development of training courses in subject-matter areas and groupings of courses aligned with Air Force (AF), Air Education Training Command (AETC), and unit objectives.
  • Initiates and plans development of curricula for courses in an assigned subject field complicated by factors such as changing situations or educational developments in the field that have resulted in outdated established guideline material.
  • Establishes, plans, and conducts instructional design, development, and/or evaluative criteria often dealing with requirements that are controversial, unconventional, or novel.
  • Evaluates and predicts training achievements and student performance and prepares interpretations of results and recommendations addressing significant matters such as objectives, contents, instructional methods, or probable student counseling needs.
  • Uses an instruction systems development approach to develop effective learning maps and perform sound learning analyses from the initial training levels through the operating levels of tasks or jobs, and well as to analyze educational or instructional problems or questions.
  • Accurately specifies the time and emphasis given each unit or module of study in terms of training objectives and continuity.
  • Employs sound management principles to accurately determine the learning objectives and task learning relationships. Identifies tasks that can be efficiently and effectively supported by job or skill performance aids.
  • Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and Training Development objectives.
  • Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies proper training principles,
  • guidelines, policies, and regulations. Establishes policies and procedures to plan, coordinate, design, and validate instruction.
  • Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes.
  • Balances workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of training development and administrative issues.
  • Structures assignments to create effective and economical positions. Collaborates with other organization managers and customers as appropriate.
  • Reviews organization mission, functions, and manning. Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Provides advice to supervisor of significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment.
  • Establishes metrics and analysis systems to ensure actions are timely and reviewed at critical points. Performs self-inspection and presents detailed and comprehensive report with any corrective action taken to supervisor.
  • Follows-up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies. Assesses and revises policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work.
  • Serves as advisor/subject matter expert on policies, laws, regulations, service agreements, and directives that govern technical training.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises technical training courses, instructional materials, and measurement devices in accordance with AETC instructional guidance.
  • Accomplishes research and special projects to solve educational and training program problems.
  • Represents Training Development with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Document processes and provide continual process improvement.
  • Comply with company standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Learning Design or a related education field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in online curriculum development and instructional design experience with a team (e.g., subject-matter-experts, multimedia developers, and developers).
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must work effectively both individually and as a virtual team member.
  • Strong project and time management skills, e.g., meeting deadlines and handling diverse tasks simultaneously using prioritization.
  • Ability to learn emerging technologies preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with ICIS, TTMS and LMS systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Skills
  • Desired familiarity with AETC course management and instructional design
  • Prior experience as an Instructor Supervisor or training manager preferred.
  • Background on Special Warfare and AETC training methodology.
Physical Demands
  • Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
    • Occasional field environments, Tactical observations of Final Exercise Phase (FEP) and other key training phases.
  • Occasional extended working hours will be required.
